Session Title: Sara Alert™: Empowering Public Health and Communities to Mitigate the Spread of COVID-19
Description: Public health agencies had to respond swiftly to the COVID-19 pandemic. Monitoring exposed individuals to safely refer care and contain spread is labor intensive, and efficient and effective available tools were limited. Sara Alert™ is a force multiplier that allows public health to manage rapidly expanding caseloads more efficiently, leading to earlier care, earlier containment of the virus, and reduction of burden on public health and clinical resources. Sara Alert empowers community members who are sick or exposed to COVID-19 to actively engage with public health professionals. Community members enrolled in Sara Alert are able to report their symptoms daily to public health through Sara Alert’s automated system. This allows public health to offer more high-touch engagement with individual community members when symptoms appear or worsen, and rapidly connect them to testing or care as needed.
Join Sara Alert team members and representatives from jurisdictions using Sara Alert to hear about the impact it has had as an accessible and inclusive tool to serve all communities. We will share how public health departments have implemented Sara Alert™ during COVID-19; how it has empowered communities to help contain the virus using daily self-reports; and how public health can continue to use it for other infectious diseases in the future.
